the vet herself was great very kind. front desk was seemingly incompetent. lost my vaccination paperwork. i had to come in three times to pick up a prescription, finally had it ready 24 hours later than they said. couldn't even get a diagnosis for five hours. poor organization that i paid 300+ to deal with.

Response from the owner

Dear Madison M, We are so sorry to hear about the problems with your recent visit. Diagnostics may take some time to get completed and this may explain the delay in reaching a correct diagnosis. Your records from your previous veterinary visits get scanned in to our electronic records and we schedule this at a time after all patients are cared for in order to not delay care for your loved one, as oftentimes previous records are many dozens of pages long. However, this does not explain nor excuse the problems you had with your prescription, and for this I sincerely apologize. We want to make this right! Please contact us so we may obtain your last name and the name of your pet in order to correct what went wrong at your visit. Normally, new prescriptions are completed at the time of your visit and are sent home with your pet. For refill prescriptions, we request 24 hours to process in order to direct our attention on our patients to whom we are giving care at that time. Again, we want to ensure this doesn't happen again and we'd like to research what went wrong during your visit. Please call 406-449-7155 so we can make this right. Sincerely, Dr. Wampler and the Alpine Team

Why start talking about charges before even doing an examination? Why assume the issue without even doing an examination? I told them what had happened and what I thought the issue was. They completely disregarded everything I said and …

An exam is critical to understanding what may be causing problems and most people wish to know the cost of an exam before it is performed in order to decide to proceed. Sometimes it is necessary to do some diagnostic testing, such as blood work or an x-ray, for instance, in order to better diagnose a condition in your pet. This, too, is important to understand cost prior to performing a test. We feel it is important to give you information up front so you can make the best decisions for your family and your budget so there are no surprises. As an emergency we try to work you in to our patient schedule wherever we have an available doctor. Sometimes that may take a little waiting as they are already seeing other patients, too. Thank you for your patience while we care for all the patients already scheduled prior to your unexpected arrival. We appreciate your feedback and understanding. ~the Alpine team

We recently celebrated the one year mark of NOT having our beloved dog euthanized at Alpine Animal Clinic and I feel compelled to write this review. I am writing it so that others will think twice when faced with an extremely difficult decision such as euthanasia. We took our dog to her regular vet at Alpine because she was very sick and the “diagnosis” (based on an ultrasound) was not good. We took her home and thought long and hard about what to do and decided that we would get a second opinion regarding her “diagnosis”. The second vet did an exam which also included an ultrasound and did not see the things on the ultrasound that the staff at Alpine saw. We were elated to say the least. Our dog is happier and healthier than she has ever been and we shudder to think how different things would be right now if we had listened to the vet at Alpine. If this review helps others to see the value of a second opinion, and if it saves just one pet's life, then writing it was worth it.
In response to Alpine's comment: we chose to go with the ultrasound at your clinic as a first diagnostic tool, and one that was the least stressful for Joy, as a place to start. We then chose not to do further testing based on the vet's report to us and her draconian diagnosis after the ultrasound was read and at that point decided to get another opinion. The vet we took Joy to for a second opinion did another ultrasound and some blood work so we're not really sure what “recommended diagnostic studies” you are referring to.**It is now August of 2019 and we are happy to say that our beloved furry friend, Joy, is just as happy and healthy as ever!

Response from the owner

Dear Mrs. Horton, How wonderful to know your dog, Joy, is doing well. We see here in her last exam that it was recommend she have some diagnostic testing and a referral to a specialist to determine why she was not eating well and also a discussion of some things to try. We are glad you chose to get more information by having those recommended diagnostic studies done to determine what was causing her symptoms and hope she continues to do well.
