I'd love to be able to give them a better review. However, after the second time Of taking my dogs for grooming, they've come back home and developed kennel cough. Clearly they are allowing unvaccinated dogs, or dogs not up to date in their …
Response from the owner
Hi Melissa. We are very sorry your dogs are sick. Unfortunately, kennel cough is very difficult to prevent. The "kennel cough" vaccine is actually a bordatella vaccine. Bordatella is only 1 of many strains of flu and colds that dogs can get but by far the most dangerous which is why there is a vaccine for it. However, it only covers bordatella, not any of the many other strains of colds and flus. As you stated, your dogs are up to date on their bordatella vaccine but still contracted another form of cold or flu. Kennel cough is challenging for kennels, grooming facilities, dog parks and veterinarians (anywhere dogs share breathing space with other dogs) because the majority of dogs who carry a virus are not symptomatic but are contagious. This makes it virtually impossible to prevent. Also, some forms of kennel cough have a very long incubation period even for dogs that do become symptomatic. Meaning, they are exposing dogs for days prior to anyone even knowing they are ill. The good news for the dogs who are exposed is that the overwhelming majority of dogs who contract kennel cough do not show any signs of the illness. Unfortunately your dogs did and we are very sorry they are ill. Regarding our policies on preventing kennel cough, if a client brings a dog in who is showing any signs of illness we ask the owner to take them back home. If a dog begins to show illness while already here we immediately quarantine them and call the owners to come pick them up. We also check EVERY dog that comes into our facility to make sure they are up to date on whatever vaccinations that are required for that visit. No exceptions. We understand why you would make the assumption we "allow unvaccinated dogs" but it not accurate or true. We also have 5 different HVAC systems within our building which prevents dogs from all sharing the same air. We also require all daycare and boarding dogs go outside for potty breaks which gives them fresh air several times per day. We would be happy to provide you links to articles explaining the difference between bordatella and other strains of colds and flus. You could also contact your veterinarian for more information. There are many groomers that offer mobile grooming where they come to your home and only groom one dog a time. It is much more expensive but will greatly reduce the chances of exposure. We would be happy to refer to one. Just let us know. Again, we are sorry your dogs are sick and we wish them a speedy recovery. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us.
My pup loves this place. They took him as a baby and now he gets groomed by Faith. A little pricey but they do a great job.
I called almost 3 months ahead of time to make an appointment. It was the first time I was ever boarding my eight-year-old American water spaniel. I was fearful so I asked many times she likes a Nyla bone to calm her down all she able to …
We brought my dog in for a trial run and when my husband went to pick her up they couldn't find her for 45 minutes. Eventually he was brought in the back to look for her and they had the wrong name on her crate. Against my better judgment I decided to board her anyway for 4 nights. When I went to pick her up they brought me her food along with a puppy half her size. I told them it wasn't my dog and again, they couldn't find her. Two other families were there and also had the wrong dogs brought to them. Eventually one of the girls came out with our dog. I was so upset and freaked out I took her to an emergency vet to have her microchip scanned just to be sure. On top of this, while waiting for them to find her, I was on the phone with the owner who was condescending, unapologetic, and accusing us of not recognizing our dog (she did not believe us that wasn't our dog). We were credited for our stay but will never be back. Also, the day after pick up I ended up spending $200 at the 24hr vet because she now has kennel cough and a double ear infection. I honestly hate leaving bad reviews affecting peoples livelihood, but I am seriously concerned for the dogs in their care, getting the wrong food, possibly wrong medications, it is a complete mess.
